A word from our Commodore,

The final sailing school awards for ALL classes will be Friday at 12: 00 Noon.  All parents and students are welcome and encouraged  to come and celebrate this summer in sailing school.  The sailing school race series awards will be given for both Wednesday and Thursday classes.

Our sailing school staff has done a wonderful job this year! If you feel positive about the job these hard working young people have done for the last eight weeks, or if you want to give an extra thank you for your child's sailing school experience, please donate to the staff appreciation fund.  The club uses these funds to give bonuses to the teachers.   Thank you!  (Contribute Here)

420 Washing and de-rigging: Stay around following sailing school awards on Friday afternoon to help get the 420 fleet ready to go into the basement!

The end of year meeting will be at 15:30 this Saturday, August 18th.  We will have a budget presentation and plans for purchases this winter which need member approval.  We also present all of the sailing series awards and other awards at this meeting. It is a great opportunity to support each other and the club.

All hands on deck for the club closing this Sunday, August 19th at 9 am.  It takes many hands, power washers, carriers, movers and packers to secure everything for the winter.  Please come lend a hand on Sunday morning.

Patrol Flag Return : Thank you to everyone who helped patrol this year! If you still have an orange patrol flag in your boat, please return it to the basement.

MISSING : The CYC Burgee / Flag has gone missing.  It was last seen on the Flagpole on Monday, July 30.  If you have it or know of its whereabouts, please let us know.

All privately owned gear and sails need to be removed from the basement by Saturday!

ADULT SAILING

CYC hopes to offer this class again in 2019, so if learning to sail is on your 'bucket list', sign up early as the class fills up fast!"

Please see the Adult Sailing page for detailed information.

We are so proud of our students! They are sailors! Pictured are Sheryl Boland and Bob West completing their team “quiz”. This week the storms and torrential rains stopped just in time for a lovely afternoon sail into Quanset Pond and back!

Courtesy and Safety on the Golf Course

An average golf ball leaves the tee traveling 115 mph or more, and our path to CYC takes us right in front of the first tee. Adults and children need to take care as they cross in front.  Eastward Ho! has provided a fence to protect us.  CYC members should stop at the edge of the fence, look and assess the situation.  Always wait while golfers are teeing off, but if the golfers are waiting, they may signal it is safe to cross. Be aware as you approach the ninth green as well, since it is just beyond our path.

Eastward Ho! and CYC have a great working relationship, but it depends on CYC members being courteous to and respectful of the golfers.  Please wear shirts and shoes when crossing the hill, and do not use your cell phone.  It is best to be quiet when golfers are on the 9th green.  You may stop and wait, or move quietly by, but try not to distract those focusing on their putts.
