Meet your 2019 Sailing School Instructors!

PROGRAM DIRECTOR : Meredith Dart

Meredith started sailing at Chatham Yacht Club when she was 10 years old. She went through the entire CYC program and then went on to sail in both high school and college at Salve Regina University. She has held various positions at CYC over the years but has been the Program Director for the past 6 years. Prior to becoming the Program Director Meredith worked at both Nantucket Community Sailing and Vineyard Haven Yacht Club but made her way back to sailing on Pleasant Bay. When she is not working she enjoys spending time with her dog, Sailor, her family and friends.

ASSISTANT PROGRAM DIRECTOR:

Caroline Edwards

Caroline started sailing when she was 10 years old at Namequoit Sailing Association and then came to Chatham Yacht Club when she was 14, where she was on the racing team for 4 years. She has taught a variety of classes at CYC and this will be her second year as Assistant Program Directior and Head Instructor of Crew. She is a rising senior at the University of New Hampshire where she triple majors in Political Science, French, and International Affairs and sailed collegiately for 2 years. She just completed a semester abroad studying French in Dijon, France and enjoys skiing in the winter and yoga in her free time.

Schuyler Bartlett : Junior Instructor

Schuyler started sailing at Chatham Yacht Club when she was 6. She loves sailing, and has loved every minute of every year at CYC. She is a member of the race team along with being a junior instructor. She is a rising junior at The Rivers School in Westin, and when not working or sailing she enjoys playing field hockey, performing in musicals, and laughing with her friends, family, and dog, Lucky.



Connor Blanchet : 420 Race Coach

Connor  is a CYC 420 race coach and has been sailing at CYC for 12 years. He had several different jobs at CYC before becoming a coach, but has loved every moment at the club. He attends Bishops University in the winter and enjoys skiing, hanging out with friends, and exercise.


Marni Clary : Opti Intermediate Coach

Marni started sailing at Chatham Yacht Club when she was 7 years old and worked her way through all of sailing school. She went on and sailed for her high school as well. In addition to sailing, Marni loves running, hiking and being outdoors. During the school year, she attends UMass Amherst where she’s pursuing a degree in public health on the nursing track. She is very excited to be back on the bay this summer!

Caitlin Fitzmaurice : Junior Instructor

Caitlin started sailing in beetle cats at CYC when she was 8 years old. Since then, she has sailed in Optis and 420s, along with some other boats, and she currently races in 420s at CYC. She is 15 years old and lives outside of Boston. When not sailing, Caitlin plays volleyball, ski races, and rows crew. She loves sailing and is very excited for another great summer on Pleasant Bay!

Ellen Fuller : Opti Race Coach

Ellen has been sailing at CYC since she was a kid. She loves sailing Optis and 420s and is especially passionate about racing and regattas. She has also worked at PBCB teaching sailing on Flying Scots. She currently attends University of Connecticut, where she is a Chemistry Education and Speculative Fiction double major. When she isn’t sailing, she loves singing in college a capella and rock climbing.

Ryan Goldstein: Opti Beginner Instructor

Ryan started sailing at Chatham Yacht Club when he was 9 years old. He went through the whole CYC program and competed on the CYC 420 race team as recently as last year. He also sailed competitively at Belmont Hill School and now competes on the Varsity Sailing Team at Dartmouth College. This summer, Ryan will be leading the Opti Beginner Class. In addition to sailing, Ryan enjoys going to the beach and spending time with friends and family.


Grace Gunsalus : Opti Beginner Race Coach

Grace started sailing at CYC when she was 9 years old. Her favorite summer memories are sailing in optis and 420s with her friends. Grace is a rising high school senior at Northwest Catholic in West Hartford, Connecticut. During the school year Grace enjoys playing lacrosse and field hockey and spending time with her friends.


Clayton Kincaid : Helmsman Instructor

Clayton has sailed at CYC for the past 10 years going through the same sailing school program. As an employee he has worked as a junior instructor, Opti and 420 assistant, and 420 instructor. Clayton has managed to keep sailing despite being in Ohio for school allowing him to travel and sail in many different cities. Clayton is not often seen without his boat and when not teaching sailing he can be found motoring around Chatham harbor.


Karina Lamoreux : Junior Instructor

Karina will be a junior next year at the Bay School of San Francisco. She has been sailing at CYC since 2010 and has enjoyed being able to make strong friendships through the CYC program. Karina likes playing tennis and lacrosse and spending time with friends and family. She is excited to teach crew class this year!

Jack Murphy :  420 Race Coach

Jack has grown up spending summers on Pleasant Bay, learning to sail in wooden boats with his grandfather and fellow 420 race coach Connor. He started sailing at CYC when he was 7 years old, moving up from beetle cats to optis and 420s. This will be Jack’s second year coaching the 420 Race Team with Connor, before which he coached the Opti Race Team. Jack currently attends college at Brown University, where he competes on the sailing team.


Calder Robbins : Laser Instructor

Calder learned how to sail at the age of 6 with Cape Cod Sea Camps. He joined the Chatham Yacht Club school seven years ago and has been an active member sailing beetle cats, 420s, and lasers. Calder has taught the last two years as a junior instructor for the Beetles and instructor for Sunfish. This year he is excited to work with both the advanced opti sailors and the laser class. When not sailing, Calder enjoys fishing, photography, and fencing.


Tommy Szymanski: Opti Race Coach

Tommy started sailing at CYC when he was 8 years old. He's been an instructor for the past 5 years, and will coach the Opti Race Team and Helmsman class this summer. He'll be a sophomore at the University of Notre Dame in the fall, where he is a captain of the sailing team. When he's not on the water, Tommy enjoys playing frisbee with friends and relaxing with his dog.




Substitute Instructors

Hank Bailey

Hank has grown up and lived on the Cape his whole life. He started sailing at CYC when he was nine years old. He worked his way through the ranks at CYC and is now a substitute instructor. He is a rising senior at Saint John Paul high school in Hyannis and is a member of their sailing team.


Will Bailey

Will started sailing at Chatham Yacht Club when he was 7 years old. He is currently on the 420 race team, his school team, and plans to sail in college. Will has been a substitute instructor before in addition to crew class instructor. Will also enjoys playing on his high school soccer team.

Colin Boland

Elijah Goldman

Elijah started sailing at Columbia Yacht Club in Chicago when he was 7 years old. He raced Optis for Columbia and the Detroit Advanced Race Team (DART). For the past three years, Elijah has sailed C420s competing for Annapolis Yacht Club and Severn Sailing Association. While with Severn Elijah coached both the opti green fleet and beginner 420s while competing on their race team. Elijah's grandparents lived in Chatham and he was nicknamed the squire by his racing teammates due to how often he wore his squire t-shirt. When he's not sailing he enjoys playing guitar and is spending a lot of time working on getting his pilot's license.

Ella Grainger

Cody Lamoreux

Cody has been sailing since before he can remember. He loves to race and will be on both the Opti and 420 race teams this summer. Next year, Cody plans to sail for his high school in San Francisco. When he is not sailing, Cody enjoys playing sports and being with his family.

Tucker Lamoreux

Tucker has been sailing for as long as he can remember. He started racing with his mother when he was 6 years old and has been sailing every summer since. He lives in San Francisco, CA and will be a freshman at the Urban School of San Francisco after this summer. This will be his first summer as a sailing instructor and looks forward to teaching others everything he has learned over his time at CYC. When Tucker is not sailing, he enjoys spending time with his friends and family. He also likes playing other sports like soccer or tennis.

Cailyn Murphy

Cailyn started sailing on Pleasant Bay at a very young age. She joined the Chatham Yacht Club program at age 7. She is excited to be joining the 420 Race Team this summer. When she is not sailing, you will find her in the hockey rink or hanging with her friends.



Jack Szymanski

Jack Szymanski began in Beetle Cats at CYC when he turned 7. He now loves to race 420s around the Cape and teach Beetle Cat classes during the summer, and this is his third year as part of the CYC staff. Jack also enjoys playing classical piano and tennis.
